Gospel of the Week

Luke 12:32-48

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

See that you are prepared.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘See that you are dressed for action and have your lamps lit. Be like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks. Happy those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. I tell you solemnly, he will put on an apron, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch he comes, or in the third, but happy those servants if he finds them ready. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what hour the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus presents three parables that illuminate this dual call to action, urging us to be vigilant, faithful stewards of His teachings, and ever prepared for His return. The first parable Jesus shares emphasizes the importance of readiness.

God encourages believers to not be afraid, trust in God's provision, and live expectantly for Christ's return. It emphasizes that God's kingdom is a gift and that disciples should focus on serving God and others, not accumulating earthly possessions. This passage calls for a life of generosity, preparedness, and joyful service, grounded in the assurance of God's love and the promise of the kingdom.

This week, we have seen a big increase in illness amongst our students, and we are sending students home at quite significant rates. We continue to maintain practices from the days of Covid, such as hand sanitising and regular cleaning. However, we ask parents to also continually remind their children of good hygiene practices such as blowing their nose and throwing the tissue away and then cleaning/sanitising their hands, sneezing in their elbow or preferably a tissue, keeping their hands clean and keeping their child at home if showing any symptoms of cold or flu. We sincerely appreciate your support in this matter.

At St Patrick’s we continue to have school tours coming through for this year and 2027 which is great and next year, we welcome many new families to our community. This term, I will begin planning for 2026. It is during this term that I ask parents to put in writing any issues they would like to raise with me in terms of the new academic year. I wish to make this very clear that requests made by parents for particular staff etc will NOT be guaranteed. I would like to emphasize that the staff of St Patrick’s do an amazing job and are valuable entities in your child’s education, and I will not entertain any idea of ‘teacher shopping’. As professionals, we base the decisions on your child’s placement very carefully and there is serious consideration put into this each year.

This communication does need to be sent to me by the end of Term 3. Any requests made later than this may not be considered. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Thank you and God Bless,

Meg
